Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
