Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
Viewers can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
