Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
